This is a small, practical question that trips up a surprising number of first-timers — mostly because nobody tells you the answer clearly beforehand.

What to wear on the way in

Comfortable, loose clothing that's easy to change out of is the main thing — you'll typically undress to your comfort level once in the treatment room, so nothing you're wearing needs to survive the massage itself. Avoid tight jeans or anything with a lot of layers and fastenings if you can, simply to make the changing process quicker and easier.

Jewellery and accessories

Rings, watches, and necklaces are worth removing before the session — they can get in the way of certain strokes, particularly around the wrists and neck. Most centres will have somewhere to keep small items safe during your session; if you're unsure, just ask when you arrive.

What to wear on the way out

If you've had an oil-based treatment (aromatherapy, hot stone, or Ayurvedic-style massage), wear something you don't mind getting a little oil residue on, since a full shower isn't always available immediately after. Loose, breathable clothing also feels more comfortable than anything tight right after a session, especially following deep tissue work.

What actually doesn't matter

Contrary to what some people assume, you don't need special "spa clothes," and there's no dress code beyond basic comfort and practicality. This isn't a formal setting — the whole point is ease, both for you and for how smoothly the session runs.
